Good Mistakes

Good Mistake Clothing

Good Mistakes is a clothing brand built on the idea that not all missteps are failures—some of the best moments in life come from them. Born out of my own experience at university, where mistakes often led to unforgettable memories and unexpected opportunities, the brand blends that mindset with a passion for apparel. Each piece reflects a laid-back, optimistic lifestyle—embracing the journey, learning as you go, and wearing your story with confidence.

Good Mistakes Club

This hat features a clean, vintage-inspired design with a soft, washed light-blue fabric that gives it a relaxed, worn-in feel. The front showcases a structured embroidered patch reading “Good Mistakes Club,” combining bold block lettering with subtle retro detailing for a timeless look. Its curved brim and classic six-panel construction keep it effortlessly wearable, while the slightly faded tone adds to its laid-back, coastal aesthetic—perfectly matching the brand’s easygoing, surf-inspired vibe.

Good Mistakes Chef

This hat features a clean, vintage-inspired design with a soft cream crown and a muted green brim. On the front, an embroidered graphic reads “Good Mistakes” in a flowing script, accompanied by a playful cartoon character named Chef. The character represents the spontaneous and often chaotic cooking experiments from university days—meals that didn’t always go to plan but somehow turned out tasting great. The combination of the relaxed color palette and meaningful design gives the hat a nostalgic, lighthearted feel.

Snap Crank

This hat was designed as my first collaboration, bringing together my creative direction with my mate’s mechanical workshop that specializes in old-school cars. The design blends a clean, vintage-inspired aesthetic with a strong automotive influence, featuring classic typography and a graphic that nods to retro performance culture. The neutral tones and structured fit keep it wearable, while the detailing reflects the passion and craftsmanship behind both the brand and the garage it represents.

King Fish

This hat was designed to capture the spirit of fishing with mates — the early mornings, the banter, and the unforgettable moments out on the water. The clean black base gives it a timeless, easy-to-wear look, while the “King Fish” logo and vibrant fish graphic bring that ocean energy to life. Every detail reflects the good vibes and shared passion behind it, making it more than just a hat — it’s a symbol of the fun, freedom, and connection that comes with every fishing trip.

Nature's Canvas

This “Good Mistakes” tee captures a nostalgic, adventure-driven spirit with its vintage-inspired design featuring a classic Volkswagen campervan set against mountains and pine trees. The clean front logo keeps it minimal, while the bold back graphic tells a fuller story of exploration, freedom, and embracing the unexpected. Styled within an old-school campsite setting, the design comes to life—evoking road trips, campfires, and off-grid moments that feel both timeless and personal. At its core, the concept taps into something deeply familiar: Kiwis love the outdoors, and this piece celebrates that connection to nature, spontaneity, and the joy of getting a little lost along the way.

Gone Fishing

This design captures a calm, nostalgic appreciation for the simple joy of fishing. Centered around a small logo-style illustration, it features a character walking away with a fishing rod in hand, symbolizing a quiet escape from the noise of everyday life. The understated placement and minimal scale give it a subtle, almost personal feel, like a quiet statement rather than a loud graphic. Paired with the name “Gone Fishing,” the design evokes a sense of freedom, relaxation, and stepping away to reconnect with nature, making it feel both timeless and effortlessly laid-back.
